FROM OUR WASTE, A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE IS BORN

Founded in 2010 and having launched operations in 2012, SPAH (S.A.), a subsidiary of the Sipromad Group, is committed to the circular economy by transforming waste paper into toilet paper under the Doucy Eco and Lys brands. The company thus combines industrial performance with environmental responsibility.

Each year, more than 1,200 metric tons of paper are recycled to produce nearly 18 million rolls, without the use of chemical bleaching agents. This model reduces dependence on imports while putting local waste to good use.

The environmental impact is also significant: approximately 1,800 metric tons of CO₂ avoided annually, and water consumption limited to 20% of industry standards. In addition, SPAH has established a fish farming system in partnership with the community surrounding the plant. This initiative exemplifies optimized resource management, with an annual production of 5 metric tons of fish.

At the heart of this ecosystem, SPAH relies on a network of diverse partners—local governments, paper waste generators, distributors, institutions, and local communities—to ensure the sustainability of its initiatives.

On the social front, the company prioritizes local employment, with 80% of its employees coming from the Ambohimanambola Fokontany. It also supports its teams through concrete initiatives, such as a subsidized cafeteria, training programs, and continuous improvements to working conditions.

Through these commitments, SPAH demonstrates the ability of a local industry to balance environmental impact, community engagement, and the creation of sustainable value.
